Training Ice is a training session meant for serious practice. You must be at least Skate UK Level 8 and have private lessons at the Guildford Spectrum to become a Training Ice member.
To be able to skate on any training ice session you
MUST be a member of ‘Training Ice'. Details of membership are available from the reception at
Guildford Spectrum.
The Training Ice sessions on different days are spilt into different standards. The ice before 8:30am MUST only be used by strong skaters and is not suitable for beginner or weak skaters. Skaters using this ice must be aware of other skaters as failure to do so could cause a serious accident. Please speak to your ice coach before using this ice time to ensure that you are of a sufficient standard and awareness. You will be asked to leave the ice if you are not of a sufficient level.
Training Ice Session Descriptions
Competitive Ice
Serious training sessions for competitive/competent skaters of minimum standard NISA Level 2.
This ice is for programs,dances, jump and spin work. Talking is not permitted.
Skaters must stand clear of those doing their programs and be respectful to one another.
Training Ice
As above, but for skaters of NISA Level 1 and above.
Sessions not suitable for beginners or weak skaters.
Skaters should not come onto the ice part way through a session.
Adult Training Ice
This ice is for skaters who wish to train at a more leisurely pace. Skaters MUST be over 18 years of age.
Patch Ice
General practice sessions for skaters who are taking private lessons here at Spectrum.
Some sessions have age/standard restrictions.
On weekday mornings senior skaters can use the first 45 minutes for general practice, after which they can practice spins and edge work (unless quiet)
The ice coordinator reserves the right to move skaters to appropriate training sessions.
When using ‘Training Ice’ please observe the following rules:
No talking in the centre of the ice, either stand to the side or leave the ice.
Give way to skaters having their lessons
Give way to skaters whilst their music is played
Dance couples to be aware of other skaters
Be polite to other skaters and Ice Coaches
Ask an Ice Coach if you wish to use the music
Training Ice is for serious practice, please respect the rules, the ice and most of all, other skaters.
Failure to do so could result in you being asked to leave the ice.
