Frequently
Asked Questions
To
make your experience at the Guildford Spectrum
as enjoyable as possible, listed below are answers
to some of the most frequently asked questions
concerning ice skating lessons and courses.
What should I wear?
The ice rink at Guildford Spectrum Leisure Complex
is a chilly place and beginner skaters spend some
time "on the ice" literally. So, dress
warmly. Gloves or mittens are recommended to be
worn in order to help keep your hands warm. Helmets
are supplied by Guildford Spectrum and are available
free of charge.
Where do I go?
When you arrive for your lesson or course, you
should aim to arrive at least 10-15 minutes before
the start of the lesson in order to pick up your
skates from skate hire. If it is your first lesson,
unless informed otherwise by your coach, you should
meet your coach at the 'window end' of the rink.
Skates should be tight fitting and laced snugly,
especially around your ankles!
What if I need extra help?
All of our coaches teach private lessons. If you
are interested in private lessons, contact the
coach from whom you wish to take lessons by leaving
a message on 01483 443359, or you can leave your
details with a member of staff at skate hire so
an ice coach can contact you directly.
What grading
system do you use?
At Guildford Spectrum we run the National Associations'
SKATE UK training program. Grades start from Level
One and run through to Level Ten. After Level
Ten you can start to specialize in either Free,
Dance, Synchro or Speed Skating when you move
onto the Bronze, Silver and Gold certificates.
Personalized certificates are available from the
Guildford Spectrum Administration department.
